About Ophiuchus

First of all, you’re probably wondering what the heck does “Ophiuchus” mean.  Well, in a nutshell, it is Latin for “snake bearer”.  I took some creative license and interpreted it as “snake handler”.  For the rare few who might be reading this blog, and haven’t clue who I am, I like reptiles.  In earlier years, I might have had somewhere between 15 and 20 of them living in my house (in cages, of course).  Not really sure why, except it was hardwired in the way God created me, but I have always found them fascinating.  Now, I’ve trimmed down the collection some, but I always manage to keep a few around. If you are genuinely interested in this aspect of my life, feel free to check out my other blog, www.StudentoftheReptile.com
There’s some more interesting stuff about the name Ophiuchus, mostly that it involves some Greek mythology and is also a cool constellation.  I have often toyed with the idea about getting it as a tattoo, but I’m too cheap.

Besides reptiles & other wildlife stuff, I also like my wife Zela.  In fact, I love her more than anything else on this planet, although I admit that may change when she gave birth to our son Emory Zane in April of 2011.  At that point, I’ll have to share my love, but that’s okay because that’s the wonderful thing about love.  It’s limitless, boundless and most of all, unconditional.  That last one is a really good thing when it’s mutual.

I also love to draw.  Some say I have a talent or gift for it.  I say, thanks, God.

According to my parents, I’ve been drawing since I was three.  I eventually spent 4 years of college and obtaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Animation to hone my skills as an artist.  Now, I operate a freelance graphic design company called Art REX Designs, Inc.  This allows me to drive around in an awesome van decorated in my artwork, which includes a dinosaur, a gecko, and a robot.  For more info on all that, check out:www.artREXdesigns.com

Let’s see…reptiles, my wife and upcoming son, art…that pretty much sums up who I am (although not necessarily in that order!).  I also enjoy various types of music, outdoorsy stuff, reading until my neck hurts, and much more….but you get the idea.
